  • LORAN-C Chains: LORAN-C stations are arranged in groups of 3 to 5 transmitting stations. They all transmit on a frequency of 100 kHz. In order to seperate one group of stations (called a chain) for another neighboring chain the time from when the master station transmits until it transmits again is different for each chain. This time is called the Group Repetition Interval (in uS). If you have a pulse generator that outputs pulses that are separated by this time interval and you use it to trigger a scope X axis (time axis) and you look at the output of a receiver tuned to 100 kHz you will see some pulses that are stable and also there will be other pulses that are not synchronized.
